Richard Harris Film Festival partners with Amcomri for new €10M Funding Scheme

Taking place at King John’s Castle on Tuesday 16th August, and ahead of the RHIFF’s tenth year – which runs from October 26-31, was a special launch of both a new partnership between the Richard Harris International Film Festival (FHIFF) and Amcomri Entertainment Inc. (AMEN)and a Film Funding Scheme worth 10 million Euro.

Amcomri Entertainment Inc. will make available a new film investment fund of €10m to entrants of the 2022 Richard Harris International Film Festival, while also announcing confirmation as the primary commercial sponsor for the Richard Harris International Film Festival.

The funds can be invested across a number of film projects as selected by the Amcomri Entertainment Film Committee, with funding available to entrants of the 2022 RHIFF as well as previous entrants to the festival. The investments are for feature films (not shorts), animations and documentaries.

Robert Price, Chief Executive Officer of Amcomri spoke to the audience of dignitaries and the local film making community about how this new relationship with the RHIFF will work.

“At Amcomri, we work to encourage project dialogue for film financing, publishing and international distribution and sales so we are thrilled to sponsor this year’s RHIFF. We want to continue to develop long-term relationships which can grow to multi-deal co-production activity and are eager to receive the applicants to the AMEN Film Investment Fund”

Terms and Conditions

  • Projects eligible for the fund MUST be submitted through the portal only. DO NOT email scripts or treatments.
  • The fund (and the decision making process) is entirely separate from RHIFF. The Richard Harris International Film Festival does not have a final say in this process.
  • The directors and any volunteers or contractors associated with RHIFF have no involvement in the selection process of the fund. NO Canvassing RHIFF staff.
  • Amcomri Entertainment does not provide early development funding – each project needs to be developed to the draft, script, & budget stage as a minimum requirement.
  • The investments are for feature films, animations & documentaries.
  • Applications to be made no later than 31/12/2022.
  • Waivers for administration fee will not be granted.
  • Applying to the fund does not guarantee selection at the festival and any submissions to the festival should only be done through film freeway nor does selection at the festival this year or in previous years guarantee that a project is eligible.
  • Each and any investment will be at Amcomri’s sole discretion and based upon their commercial investment criteria.
  • Applicants acknowledge that Amcomri receives a large number of applications from producers globally and that Amcomri will not be liable for an inadvertent similarities between any materials submitted to Amcomri and any film produced with Amcomri funding by another party.
  • Informal approaches (other than queries on the application process & eligibility) and pitches will not be entertained and will be disregarded and this may affect the eligibility of the project.

Copyright & Ownership

  • Writer, Director, and Producer credit will remain with the original filmmaking team.
  • All ownership and rights to material submitted to the investment program remains with the original rights holder until and unless other agreements are made.
  • Should your project be awarded funding, you are not obligated to accept it until and unless other agreements are made.

‘Warts and All’ to Premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh 2022

With Post Production completed by Simon at ‘Craft- Post House‘, it has been announced that the Directorial Debut for Pat Shortt on the Avenue Productions Short Film, ‘Warts and All’ will premiere at this years Galway Film Fleadh, on Wednesday 6th July at the Town Hall Theatre.

The short film is Produced by Lee Crowley, Directed by Pat Shortt and starring Michelle Lehane and Danny McCafferty

Synopsis

Aron, a single thirty-something, attempts to navigate falling in love, while trying to hide his insecurities. He wrestles with his longing to fit in and being true to himself, unsure whether the real him is too much for anyone to love.

The film is also written by Michelle Lehane and was filmed on location in Co.Galway, in February 2022. Avenue Productions are behind the short and have previous success with films such as,

We had the pleasure recently of cutting the teaser trailer for the Avenue Productions‘ short film, Give Him Time, starring Faye Shortt and Pat Shortt.

The short screened at the 2022 Fastnet Film Festival. as part of programme 8, details a story about a father and daughter’s struggle to communicate after a local scandal, until a timely reminder gets them back on track.

It was established to develop and produce short, feature-length, and television drama with an Irish and International focus.

Limerick School of Acting Celebrates 30 Years

To celebrate 30 years of the Limerick School of ActingFilm CEL (Film Craftsmanship Excellence and Learning) at LSAD, TUS, have produced a short doc highlighting the school and its director, Actor Nigel Mercier.

Filmed over a number of days with the schools students the documentary features stories about how Nigel started the school and what he enjoys about it each year. 

Filming was completed by both students and staff of the Creative Broadcast and Film Production programme at LSAD with the post production taking place at CRAFT Post House.

Congratulations to Nigel and all the staff and students of the Limerick School of Acting and all the best for the next 30 years.

With hundreds of entries from both national and international film makers this festival has a long standing in Limerick, and since joining with the Limerick Film Festival in 2017, it grown to include this awards show, created and edited by Simon McGuire, I.S.E.

The Fresh Film Festival team are super excited to bring you Careers in Screen Mid West, a careers day for senior cycle students, taking place on Wednesday, March 30 as part of the Fresh International Film Festival 2022! 🎬

Ever wondered how to get started in the film and television industry? Careers in Screen is an informative and interactive audience-led event for Transition Year to 6th Year students, which aims to highlight the wide variety of career paths available in film and television. The event will explore the nature of filmmaking as a career and the different skill sets involved, and take a deeper look at the screen industry in Ireland.

Experienced speakers will discuss their own experiences working in the screen sector and give an insight into the collaborative process of film production. The event will also look at screen developments in the region and how best to get involved.
